Our French restaurant in Houston has been opening its doors since 1980, a family-owned table where fresh food and easy conversation have always gone hand in hand. We open at 8 a.m. every day of the week and stay until 3 p.m., with breakfast lingering until 2:30 p.m. for anyone in no rush to let the morning go.
About Us
At the French House, there's plenty worth rising early for. A Quiche Lorraine, golden and unfussy. A spinach quiche. A smoked salmon quiche layered with leek and arugula, for mornings that call for something a little more. French toast, pancakes, waffles turned crisp at the edges, all the familiar comforts, made the way they should be. Pour a cup of fresh-brewed coffee, or something creamier in a cappuccino, and the morning finds its footing.
By midday, old favorites take their turn. A Greek salad, crisp and bright. Or the Salad Combo, two scoops of chicken, egg, or tuna salad nestled among fresh greens, cucumber, and tomato, dressed just how you like it, with a cup of soup alongside if the day calls for it.
Then come the sandwiches, twenty-two of them, each with its own following. Chicken salad, tucked into a toasted French baguette or folded into a buttery croissant. The Open-Faced California, laid over toasted wheat. Roast beef, warmed with melted Brie on baguette. Egg Salad Supreme, quietly beloved by regulars who know exactly what they came for.
And always, always leave a little room. Bread pudding, soft and comforting, the way it should be. Streusel-topped fruit tarts, apricot, peach, apple, and cherry, the one everyone reaches for first.
After all these years, the idea has never needed complicating: good food, made simply and served warmly, in a place where people can sit a while, talk a little longer, and feel entirely at home.
